Eve Morgan (Davis), a workaholic who never really put much value into the joys of Christmas and family, slips and falls on an icy sidewalk. When she wakes she realizes that she has died and is in heaven. Pearl (MacLaine) is an angel and tells Eve that she will be assigned as a Christmas Angel and has only four days to help Max (McCormack) who can not get over the loss of his sister. Eve begins to learn the meaning of Christmas but along the way falls in love with Max, something that is against the rules.
This is the second Christmas season I have seen this film and did enjoy it. The story is not new, someone who doesn’t appreciate Christmas finds the value in it etc… and I almost think that the dying and coming back part of the story has been done before but this film took the two attributes and put them together quite nicely. McCormack is a great actor and puts his own charm into the film. It was nice seeing older stars of days gone by show up in films again and MacLaine was very good.
As I watched I did grow warm feelings and was rooting for the two. You could easily deduce the ending but with most Christmas films you can. I do think this film is a watchable yearly as part of your Christmas lineup.
