Stacy (Hudgens), a baker who takes schedules very seriously decides to take a spontaneous trip to the charming land of Belgravia at the encouragement of her co-chef and best friend, Kevin. There she runs into the Duchess Margaret Delacourt (also played by Hudgens) who is about to wed the Prince there. The two women are an identical match for each other and you would swear you were looking in a mirror. Margaret pleads with Stacy to swap places for just a few days so she can get a taste of what it is like to be a normal girl. Agreeing, the two swap and it’s not long before their individual personalities come out and start changing each others lives.
Not a bad feel good seasonal film however Christmas was really not a huge part of the story. It just happened to be near that time of year that’s all. The story was ok but we have seen this story again and again from both angles so it is nothing new. This film becomes a hit only because of Hudgens, without her wit and skill this film may have tanked.
It is a good romance though and you ladies like that, especially at this time of year so Netflix released it at the right time! The scenery was good, sets were colorful and CGI was barely used if at all and that is refreshing. We don’t always want to see the impossible on the screen, sometimes we just want a feel good film that leaves us smiling when it’s over, this film takes care of that. It is a possible watch again film for the holidays but we will see.
