Daddy’s Home 2, 2017 film starring Will Ferrell, Mark Wahlberg, Mel Gibson and the ever funny John Lithgow. This sequel to Daddy’s Home from 2015 follows the dad and step dad who are now friends and use to each other. At Christmas time the fathers of the two show up and begin undermining the relationship the two men have.
What ensues is a funny, entertaining and somewhat enjoyable. I say somewhat because Mel’s character (or Mel himself) was just not that funny and who knew Wahlberg could do comedy.(Even though a lot of folks think his entire career was comedic). I laughed during the film so they got the genre right and of course Lithgow is always funny (I think if he was not in it, it may have tanked further).
Overall it gets a three from me. Even Ferrell’s comedy is predictive and old. I think he may be crossing the threshold to ‘was a funny guy’. Anyway, if you saw the first one you should see this one but don’t buy it, download or rent it because you will likely not see it twice.
