Gulliver (Black) is a lonely mail room clerk who secretly loves Darcy (Peet), head of the travel section. He pretends he is a travel writer to get close to her and accepts an assignment to Bermuda. There he gets lost in the famed Bermuda Triangle and washes up on the shores of Lilliput where he is a giant compared to their size. He soon becomes their protector with mixed results.
This film did not get that many good reviews on most sites for whatever reason. Here, it gets a four because it was entertaining and funny. I guess you have to be a Jack Black fan, of which I am. It was not his best work for sure but Black seems to just want to go out and have fun with it. We all know the original tale and there have been several films made with this title and story dating back as far as 1939. I think the critics go into a film looking to pick it apart and make sure we know whats wrong with it, me, I go into a film looking to have fun and be entertained for two hours. This film did that. The cgi was ok and the comedic spin they put on the story was also good. The acting was good, nothing bad to say there, Billy Connolly is, of course, a very funny man as well. In all, not a bad comedy, I liked it.
