Operation Petticoat, 1959 film starring Cary Grant, Tony Curtis, Joan O’Brien, Dick Sargent and many more. Classic, Funny and Entertaining is what I call this. The 50s and 60s were made up of great talent in Hollywood that the world can never forget. Grant and Curtis are exceptional in this movie, Grant’s dry wit and Curtis always getting in trouble, perfect mix.
It’s the story of a newly commissioned sub that was sunk before it left port. The captain wont give up on her and gets his chief procurement officer (Curtis) to get all the parts he can to fix it. Once partially fixed and underway the men must continue to work on her and to continue to scavenge parts as they go. They even pick up a group of nurses that were left behind on an island to add to their load. Once they find paint but must undercoat it first and all they could get was a bit of white and a bit of red so they mix it. The result was pink of course but before they could apply the grey they were attacked by the Japs and had to scurry away quick. The result, the only pink sub in the US Navy with 5 nurses on board!
It is always great to see these classic films with the great actors of high Hollywood. This flick was funny and very entertaining, a great item for your collection.
