Hidden Figures

Hidden Figures, 2016 film starring Taraji P. HensonOctavia SpencerJanelle Monáe, Kevin Costner and Jim Parsons.  To me this is a moving, historical film about the early days of NASA and the struggles, not only women but African American Women in the fifties and sixties had.

It follows three brilliant young women who became the computers for NASA.  Don’t forget, this is before the computer revolution and people needed the computers facts checked and re-checked before they would be comfortable with them.  These three women were playing a vital role in the early space program and each of them gain the respect from department heads they deserved and even the astronauts would only use their calculations because they knew them to be the most accurate.

I love true story movies and this one did not disappoint.  I have said it before that I am saddened by the actual hard times that African Americans (Especially the women) endured in those days and I can only apologize on their behalf .  This film makes it into my ‘Keep and watch again’ collection.  Very well done.
