The Princess Diaries

The Princess Diaries, 2001 film starring Julie Andrews, Anne Hathaway and Hector Elizondo.  Teenager turned princess.

Mia Thermopolis (Hathaway) has just found out that she is the heir to the throne of Genovia.  Her grandmother, the Queen (Andrews) travels to San Francisco to prep the young princess for her new role in life.  Comedy ensues as she tries to go from teen to royalty in a short amount of time.

This was a decent film, one that the kids will like.  I don’t mind these types once in a while but I did enjoy it.  Hathaway was very good and Andrews plays the part of royalty very well.  The supporting cast was good and I believe the story was pretty good as well.  Not necessarily original but still good.  This film was definately geared to the young girls between say 7 and 16, if not that is the way it comes off.  The late Garry Marshall directed this film and did his as usual great job.  Good entertainment all around, I give it a four for all the young princess’s around the world.
