The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy

The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy, 2005 film starring  Martin Freeman, Sam Rockwell and Zooey Deschanel.  Humorous and a good time to be had comedy.

Arthur Dent (Freeman) is having a really bad day and it’s about to get worse.  His home is about to be demolished for a by-pass but’s that not all.  A friend of his is actually an alien and he knows that Earth is about to be demolished.  Seconds before the Earth blows up the alien grabs Arthur and sticks out his thumb and they are transported up to the very ship that is destroying Earth.  Now Arthur has to deal with being a wanted stowaway he has to deal with a chronically depressed robot, the search for the meaning of life, a crazy book and the new Earth version 2.

You do not have to have read the book for this to be an enjoyable film.  Actually it would be better if you hadn’t that way you wouldn’t be as critical of this film as those who have read it.  I have not read the book though I did have it at one time.  This was largely a UK film though there were some US companies involved.

The film was fun, engaging and well put together.  There were some other great names in this films including Bill Nighy and Alan Rickman who help make this a great adventure through space!  The humor is silly and smart at the same time, you just had to laugh throughout.  The special effects, CGI and costumes were well put together and seamless.  You could easily see the aliens in costume but you didn’t at the same time, how?  You were having so much fun that you ignored any flaws.

To me, this film is worth watching and yes, more than once.  It was just plain fun.
