War For The Planet Of The Apes

War For The Planet Of The Apes, 2017 film starring Andy Serkis, Woody Harrelson and Steve Zahn.  Loads of killing and even more CGI than the others!

Once again the apes are attacked by man.  This time it’s by a group of soldiers led by ‘The Colonel’ (Harrelson),  soldiers that no longer take orders from anyone but the Colonel.  Caesar’s wife is murdered by the Colonel and he tells his group of apes to head off to find safety while he goes to hunt down the soldiers.  His hunt finally brings them face to face and Caesar and the Colonel are pitted against each other in a battle that will determine the fate of both their species.

This was another great sequel in this franchise and again, I was impressed with the CGI work and how real the end result was.  The film was a little hard to follow as it focused on mostly the apes together and they communicate mostly through sign.  Something I have not mastered.  You can pick up enough along with their facial expressions to know what they are talking about.  The acting was good and Harrelson was a dynamite bad guy, something you don’t see from him too often.  A lot of people did not seem to like this film and gave it terrible ratings but I don’t see it.  It would be nice if all the apes talked but that is reserved for future sequels I’m sure.  It was a continuation from the last and the ending leaves me to think they must make another one.  There were more subtle referances to the original films with characters like Maurice and the latest character Nova, remember her?  To me this was another very entertaining film that deserves credit, especially more that some of the reviews I’ve seen.  Great job, I will watch again!
