The Art Of Racing In The Rain

The Art Of Racing In The Rain, 2019 film starring  Kevin Costner, Milo Ventimiglia and Amanda Seyfried.  Pleasantly surprised with this heartwarming tale.

It’s the story of the dog Enzo (voice of Costner) and his best friend Denny (Ventimiglia).  Through Enzo’s eyes we see his life from a pup, his thoughts and dreams with his life with Denny.  As they both grow their lives change but not without each other.  Enzo loves Denny so much he wants to protect him every step of the way.  When Denny marries and has a child Enzo reluctantly takes in and loves the newcomers and vows to protect them all.  To quote the official story line, Enzo learns that the techniques needed on the racetrack (Denny’s job) can also be used to successfully navigate the journey of life.

Wow!  Yes, I wasn’t prepared for an emotional roller coaster that this film provided.  The story was so good that it proved the bond between man and dog.  The acting in this was fantastic, I have no issues with it.  The dog ( played by Parker and Butler as old Enzo) was superb, the best animal training I have seen.

If you are looking for a great family, feel good film then look no further.  This one will do the trick but make sure there are plenty of hankies available.  There are several scenes throughout where you will need them.  I loved this film because it was a great story, no fancy computer imagery, no blood and gore, just good drama.
